"Palyulin & Partners Participates in UN International Court of Justice Simulation at HSE University"
In modern society, it is impossible to underestimate the role and importance of comparative law, especially given the increasing complexity of legal relations with foreign elements. High-level professionals in their practical activities often face issues of applying foreign law, the operation and effectiveness of foreign legal institutions, and the application of foreign legal doctrine.
The student competition "Lex comparativa" is a model of a mock court, where participants are invited to act as representatives of both procedural parties to a dispute. For the second year, the Palyulin & Partners law firm has been the official sponsor of the event.
The uniqueness of the competition, held by the Department of Legal Theory and Comparative Law of the National Research University "Higher School of Economics", is that participants are given the freedom of a creative approach to resolving a dispute: participants will be offered only the factual circumstances of the case and a number of necessary documents - the teams themselves offer the legal position of the Applicant and the Defendant.
They will be able to transform into legal consultants and conduct the case from the Client's request to the issuance of a court decision. The "Lex comparativa" competition will improve the theoretical training of a law student, demonstrate practical work skills and improve soft skills.
This year, the game case was devoted to international legal relations and a dispute that arose due to the use of artificial intelligence technologies. Such use of technologies is becoming increasingly relevant in the modern world and causes a huge number of disputes related to ethical and legal issues.
The students tried themselves in the role of representatives of two disputing states at the International Court of Justice. The owner of "Palyulin and Partners" Anton Palyulin acted as a judge in the game process.
